Ain. Bird Park: “I came for two months, I stayed twenty years”

Twenty years after that day in June 2005, Emmanuel Visentin remembers as if it were yesterday the call from the director general of services for the county council. He contacted him to come to the aid "part-time for two months" of a park in Villars-les-Dombes, which was in financial and social crisis.
While the local authority had just invested 18 million euros in the bird park, it was running at a deficit of 700,000 euros; this led President Charles de La Verpillière to "do one last thing for the park" by appointing the Savoyard to head the structure. A choice that would prove to be a success. The Bird Park would undergo a transformation to become one of the jewels of Ain tourism.
